Philosophy of Counseling

Effective counseling begins with the quality of the relationship between the counselor and the client. Through counseling, the therapist and client work together to explore the client's inner world. The goal is to increase self awareness and facilitate change in the client's life.

Dear Ms. Banks,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts regarding mental health. Input from fellow Texans significantly informs my decision-making and empowers me to better represent our state.

Over the past several years, an increasing number of Americans across all age groups are suffering from mental health issues. The National Institute of Mental Health recently released a report indicating that 57.8 million adults in the United States suffer from serious mental illness.

Unfortunately, the number of Americans suffering from mental illness has grown significantly since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. The impact of the Covid-19 policies on mental health, and government-driven lockdown policies that isolated people, simply cannot be ignored. During the early stages of the pandemic, I raised concerns about the long-term impact that masking, social distancing, and government-enforced shutdowns would have on the pre-existing mental health crisis–especially on young children and teenagers. Tragically, we also face an opioid addiction epidemic that destroys lives throughout the United States.

In order to effectively combat this crisis, we must encourage leaders at the state and local level to coordinate with counseling programs, churches, and charities in order to find creative and effective solutions. As a United States Senator, I will continue to work with leaders both in Congress and across Texas to combat mental health disorders and fight for the well-being of individuals across America.

Thank you again for sharing your views with me. Please feel free to contact me in the future about any issue important to you or your family. It is an honor to serve you and the people of Texas.

For Liberty,

Wellness/self-care

Wellness and self-care is an important part of a counselors daily routine. As a counselor, I have a daily routine in my schedule to work out.
