Grade 5 Classroom for students in bilingual track. Teach standards framework in both languages ( English and Spanish) to class of 22 students with added goal of mastery of curriculum standards in English and Spanish.

The term of this assignment was February to June, 2017. My credential and BCLAD authorization provided mandated instruction by fully credentialed teacher for Dual Immersion Classroom. Test results revealed mastery and proficiency by 65% of students with remainder gaining one to two years growth in English proficiency.

Lead and co-lead Staff of 75 teachers and support staff for school of 900 students 90% of whom were English learner students.

Support and evaluate teachers for targeted professional standards.

Evaluate and support non teaching staff: custodians, Parent Involvement Coordinator.

Interview and recommend for hiring new teachers based on their specific experience and suitability to Title I and ESL programs.

Establish clear and effective Discipline Plan for student behavior with inclusion of Parent Advisory for support of School Safety Plan.

Institute plan for wearing of School Uniforms through inquiry of parents and overall community as to their support of uniforms as a measure to make a safer environment for students and as a way to promote focus on academic achievement.

Design and articulate curriculum for newly arrived students needing English as a Second Language support for accessing classroom instruction in regular classes. Design and articulate writing, math, social science and technology for newly arrived immigrant students.

Hire staff; teachers, instructional aides; secretarial support and transportation services.

Maintain communication with school administrators at campuses which would be receiving Welcome Center students. Offer support to English only teachers in how to mainstream ESL students into their classrooms.

Conference with parents and guardians of the Welcome Center students on safety of their children in our program; i.e. immigration status is protected.

California state standards to students in grade 1, 2 and 3. Enhanced lessons with role playing, realia and adapted scenarios. Worked cooperatively teacher teams to interpret date and modify instruction to meet needs of struggling students and add challenging instruction to meet needs of proficient students.
