Mary McComas

My job currently is about community connection and networking. I spend a lot of time connecting with local businesses and event planners. I go to local events and set up a booth to be able to make new connections and educate individuals about our practice. My goal as a practice representative is to be the first stepping stone for someone that needs assistance to learn about our business and what our doctors can do for them. Empathy, compassion and understanding are all things I use on a daily basis with my day to day connecting with people.
Networking, sales, managing social media and public relations are all attributes I have strengthened while working with this company.

With PBS, I worked closely with two producers as a freelance Production Assistant. I camera operate and grip for the shows "Untamed" and "Virginia Farming."

At Paladin Media Group, I was hired on a job to job basis as a freelance Production Assistant. The group works closely with the University of Virginia focusing on doctor profiles. I have been hired to camera operate, grip, run audio and help with set design. They also do work for CSPAN, which is a live broadcast. I camera operated for two basketball games and two speeches of politicians, one being Hillary Clinton. Live broadcasts are extremely nerve racking as you have to listen closely to the direction over the headset and maneuver in a moments notice. This taught me how to keep calm and focused during stressful situations on sets.

Kent Wiley, a film maker from Charlottesville, VA, produced a film called, "A Known Omission." I worked closely with him as his script supervisor throughout the production.

A fellow film maker, Edmond Marchetti and I followed a local band named Shagwüf around to various locations in the area and made a short documentary.

HEDG is a group that does work for James Madison University Social Services Education Films. During my time with the group, I did a variety of jobs on set including, production assisting, set design, grip and script supervising.

I worked closely with Allan Moye, lead singer of The Findells, to assist in producing music videos. I worked with him on Bare Winter Trees(Official Video), LEDA (At EccoHollow),The Girl Walking Backwards (Tiny Desk), The Spider Song (Tiny Desk).

Local band, The Judy Chops, hired my film partner Edmond Marchetti and I to produce this video for them. This entire production had been pre-planned, but when we got to the rented venue, we were only given 4 hours to film. For being so rushed and with a three person crew, I am proud of what we created. Post production was in Final Cut Pro X

Flicker is a short film I worked on in 2015 with the film group Hypnagogia. It was my first production that I worked on as a camera operator. We didn't have a budget, so we had to artificially create the flicker effect using an LED light and a piece of sturdy cardboard.
