I come into work and prepare myself to get into the water. I safely enter the water, with my supplies which include a rescue tube, objects, and toys which help assist me in teaching my students how to swim. Some objects and toys include kickboards, diving rings, colored dots, floatation devices, and on occasion a bucket. First, I start by getting to know my students to build trust and I allow them to get to know who I am to further build a professional relationship. I test their skills and then move on to slower, easier skills to get them comfortable in the water, which consist of getting their head wet, controlling their breathing, and jumping in the water. Then I start to work on more advanced swimming skills based on their abilities. I maintain my focus on all of my students and make sure to include all of them in activates. Finally, I end the class by saying a chant, allowing them to safely exit the water, and if they are a minor, making sure they return to their parents/guardians.
