International Admissions and Recruitment Specialist

  • Provide information to prospective graduate and undergraduate students who are not citizens of the United States regarding admission requirements, visa regulations, immigration procedures, and other information regarding the programs of the university and this country.
  • Evaluate international and domestic academic credentials to determine admissibility of undergraduate applicants and determine U.S. degree equivalency for graduate applicants.
  • Process all I-20 immigration documents for incoming international students.
  • Provide career and academic counseling, planning, and advising to potential students on various academic programs of study at both graduate and undergraduate levels.

  • Work with the CELAC program to ensure a seamless application process for student who are continuing their studies at UNM.
  • Promotes and represents the university at various recruitment events at both domestic and international locations.
  • Create and distributes resource materials for student recruitment and retention programs: analyze trends in recruitment and retention programs.
  • Prepare reports and proposals as requested from leadership.
  • Screen applications and credentials for compliance with admission requirements. Admits qualified undergraduates and submits screening to graduate departments for final approval.
  • Visit middle schools, high schools, and colleges at both domestic and international locations, speaks to groups and individual students, and meet with school counselors and administrators to promote outreach activities.
  • Respond to inquiries, provides information, and researches and resolves problems related to international students' applications.
  • Participate in the development of operating goals and objectives for the unit; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations, as appropriate to the unit.
