While employed at El Paso County Public Heath, located in Colorado Springs, CO, developed a pilot program called Strong and Healthy Families, a collaborative effort between El Paso County Public Health Department in El Paso County and the El Paso County Department of Social Services located in Colorado Springs. Components of the program included 1) nurse home visitation, to both pregnant women and those with children of preschool age, and 2) a classroom element that included education about childhood development and incorporation of factors necessary to ensure healthy development of their children.
In 2011, managed Strong and Healthy Families, as well as the Nurse Family Partnership program. The purpose of the program was to support pregnant women and their newborn babies, up until two years of age, and to provide education regarding to social, emotional and physical factors necessary to ensure healthy development of their children.
While employed at Pikes Peak Community Health as the Director of Integrated Health Services, received training regarding childhood adverse trauma events and the importance of the Protective Factors to Support Youth Well-Being. The application of the training was incorporation of Adverse Trauma Events (ACEs) training and assessment into the practice of medical providers and to increase the practitioners' knowledge of widely accepted protective factors to be shared with parents during well-child visits.
