  • Prepare outpatients and inpatients for endoscopy procedures by assessing patient’s overall health status, medical history, allergies, current medications, as well as measuring vital signs and starting IVs to ensure readiness for procedures. Ensure patients are properly prepared for their procedures and that the procedural team has all of the necessary information to perform the procedure safely.
  • Assist in performing various endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, upper endoscopy, Barrx/Radiofrequencyablation, and ERCP. Assist with therapeutic interventions such as biopsies, polypectomies, balloon dilations, stent placement, variceal banding, gastrostomy tube placement/replacement, and foreign body removal. Collect and properly handle specimens from patients. Ensure endoscopy equipment and supplies are available and prepared prior to procedures.
  • Provide moderate sedation to patients during endoscopic procedures as well as Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Cardioversions, and Bronchoscopies while monitoring vital signs to ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
  • Provide post moderate sedation and post-anesthesia care and ensuring patients are stable and recovered from sedation prior to discharge. Educate patients on findings based on procedures completed.
  • Exhibit leadership within the role of Charge Nurse.
  • Provide break relief for nurses in pre-op, intra-op and post-op.
  • Preceptor for students and new employees.
