Work History

Special Education Teacher

Nassau BOCES
09.1991 - 03.2000

I established a positive learning environment for both 9:1:2 and 6:1:1 classes, to address the individual learning and behavioral goals of all students. I was responsible for testing individual students, writing IEP's, attending CSE's and working collaboratively with the team psychologist, social worker, speech therapist, physical therapist, occupational therapist and paraprofessionals. Additionally, I would visit more restrictive environments such as hospital and residential facilities to assess if the student could be moved to a less restrictive environment and what his/her class placement would be.

Finally, I fostered strong relationships with parents and guardians, maintaining open lines of communication to ensure student progress.
