• I was given the opportunity to work and live on property full time for an entire year, working everyday at the Nicklaus Course at Colleton River.
• Worked closely with Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent, and crew, in completing the daily duties of preparing the golf course for play.
• Handled tasks such as, cutting cups, rolling greens and mowing greens, tees, approaches & fairways,
• Operated all types of golf course specific equipment like, greens roller, Triplex, fairway mower, rough mower, walk mower.
• Assisted in the aerification process, where I was tasked with aerifying tees and approaches with the ProCore 648, as well as verticut greens with the Triplex.
• We also replaced our collars, where we hand rolled round up in order to kill them off, and had new sod placed in. Following that, we hand cut greens sod where the round up had either infiltrated or where there was unwanted turf growing on the greens.
• Every week I sprayed greens, doing both foliar and soil sprays. With the help of another crew member, we walk sprayed greens with a Sprayhawk. Spraying minor nutrients, along with herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers, depending on what we felt was necessary given the health of the turf.
• Backpack sprayed herbicides in the rough, pine straw, white beds and dunes in order to get rid of any unwanted grasses and weeds.
• Conducted soil samples for analysis to determine necessary nutrients needed in week areas.
• Able to operate just about every piece of equipment, including tractors and skid steers.
