I was born in Plymouth, Minnesota, and was in the Wayzata school system until 8th grade when I had an opportunity to pursue a dream of playing hockey. I attended Shattuck-St, Mary's in Faribault, Minnesota for four years before hockey took me to the Academy of Holy Angles for a year and then to Waterloo West High in Waterloo, Iowa for my senior year of high school. I stayed in Waterloo before earning a scholarship at Northern Michigan University where I attended and played Division I hockey for two years. I then transferred to Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I attended my junior and senior years and played DIII hockey there.
The Huntsville Havoc is an SPHL professional hockey team in Huntsville, Alabama. We are a large part of the community and are constantly trying to give back. With a new record set this year for average attendance of around 6,500 people per game, we are fortunate enough to have a wide reach in the city. We volunteer at the local hospital, "Fun Center", library, elementary schools and many local businesses. The team prides itself on its involvement with the community.
I was one of seven consolers in charge of anywhere from 50-120 Children from 7 am-5 pm. The camp was an all-day sports camp where we played ice hockey, street hockey, baseball, volleyball, pickleball, football, and many other activates at throughout the day. We taught them how to be good athletes and good people.
I helped upper management with a variety of tasks such as scheduling staff, going over invoices, collecting debt, building rental procedures, reviewing financial records with the accounting department, and other necessary tasks.
I was a bartender that could work a Sunday brunch or a Friday night. I was always willing and wanted to work. I constantly dealt with small-town regulars that could be stubborn at times. It helped immensely with my small talk and people skills.
As a manager with opening and closing responsibilities, I had employees under me. This taught me how to be a respectful and responsible leader in the workplace. This also helped me with people skills.
