My name is Mathias Brandt and I am from Bloomington, Indiana. I am a son of two Venezuelan immigrants. I just turned nineteen years old. I plan on majoring in entrepreneurship in the Kelley School of Business, but I am a “Pre-Kelley student”. I love staying active by going to the gym and playing sports. I love playing soccer, american football, basketball, tennis, biking, and etc. In my free time, I am fascinated in exploring new places and going outdoors, such as hiking. I consider myself an extrovert and I love hanging out with my friends and with my parents. I am on my way to speaking five languages. My two main languages are Spanish and English, but I took French in high school, learned German and a little Italian in foreign exchange. After graduating high school, I took a gap year to go to foreign exchange in Germany. I got approved to a scholarship, with a two percent acceptance rate, by the U.S. and German governments, called CBYX (Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange). I stayed with a German host family for nine month, learning many new lessons of independence, adaptation, and organization. In high school; I was the Freshman Class President, in Student Council, BPA (Business Professionals of America), DECA, Model UN, High School Young Republicans/Young Democrats, International Club, and more. Regarding community service; I participated in MLK day in freshman year and 72-Stunden Aktion (72 hour action dedicated to redoing an elementary school garden in Germany). I did high school track and field and high school football. I was third-place in middle school for Geography Bee, in Latinos Fellowship day Indiana State Capitol Visit, more than 3.5 gpa while playing football, freshman year Difference Maker Reward, and CBYX (Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange) program nominee.
