Work History

Laboratory Development Intern

Cornell University
06.2023 - 08.2023
  • Coded an optimization algorithm in Matlab to model power extracted from small scale wind turbines.
  • Performed a CFD simulation of various wind turbine blades using ANSYS Fluent.
  • Gathered experimental data from blades in wind tunnel to validate Matlab model and CFD simulations.

Suspension Team Member

Cornell Hyperloop Project Team
09.2020 - 12.2022
  • Worked with team members on design, analysis, and manufacturing of high stress suspension components of hyperloop pod.
  • Performed ANSYS FEA simulation to analyze parts under load, changing design to meet factor of safety and optimizing for minimal mass.
  • Manufactured suspension components in Cornell's machine shop taking advantage of high end CNC machines.

Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

Ultima Genomics
06.2022 - 08.2022
  • Designed medical device components using Solidworks, leveraging diverse fabrication methods including 3D printing, laser cutting, and supplier services.
  • Conceptualized and built a precision test bench, emulating optical lens movement for comprehensive life cycle testing.
  • Created top level CAD model for latest DNA sequencer by combining subsystems using speedPaks.

Projects

Spacecraft Thermal Design: Designed a heat shield similar to JWST's and performed a thermal simulation in ANSYS for infrared camera cubesat to keep temperatures near 40K.

Cadence Fidelity Student Design Challenge: Participated in design challenge to optimize a Formula One front wing for a max downforce to drag ratio using Cadence's Fidelity CFD software. Achieved an optimal configuration within 30 hours of simulation time.

Wing Spar Optimization: Performed an extensive optimization of a wing spar elements to minimize mass while meeting deflection and stress requirements.
