Summary

Dynamic leader with extensive experience in operations and facilities management at USA Raft Adventure Resort. Proven track record in risk management and staff training, fostering positive guest experiences.

I am passionate about outdoor experiences and the positive community impact it can bring. While on the board for SHAC we created a new role to serve the community and I was proud to be a part of that and using my company resources to provide new outdoor experiences to kids who likely had not had the opportunity to enjoy such things.

I have worked with many of the schools in Asheville to plan and host the end of year retreats and incorporate rafting, caving and river cleanup (our typical 3 day school outing).

Work History

Managing Partner

USA Raft Adventure Resort
03.2002 - 10.2024

I purchased USA Raft in 2011 after managing multiple river outposts for the previous 10 years. I have directly overseen hiring, training, facilities management, USFS permits, sales and risk management in the decades in the commercial whitewater rafting industry.

My true passion has been providing a positive guest experience that furthers peoples desire and comfort level to get outdoors. While having been successful at this and truly loving the work I have done it was all swept away by Helene.

As the owner and more recently managing partner, the responsibilities have been many and the rewards have been great. Motivating people and leading small and large groups on river trips never got old and the position was a great fit for me.

Executive Director

Northwest Passage Adventure Tours
03.1999 - 01.2001
  • Led sea kayak tours in the Greek Isles
  • Worked closely with organizational leadership and board of directors to guide operational strategy.
  • Oversaw financial management, ensuring fiscal responsibility and long-term sustainability for the organization.
  • Guided staff through periods of organizational change, maintaining morale and engagement during transitions.
  • Forge strong relationships with board members, providing regular updates on organizational progress and soliciting their expertise when needed.
  • When 9/11 happened and international travel all but stopped for many months I led the company to determine a new direction of offering adventures in the midwest predominately. This was something though that I knew I did not want to stay and lead the transition of and moved back to Asheville.
