  • Preparing international tax returns primarily relating to 5471’s (Controlled Foreign Corporations) and 8858’s (Foreign Disregarded Entities), also including 8865’s (Foreign Partnerships) and form 926, 8621, and the 8990 series all of which feed into a US 1120/1040/990.
  • This includes wrangling trial balances into an importable format, account mapping/ adjustments, posting book reclassifications and book to tax adjustments, and making Earnings and Profit adjustments to ultimately arrive at the taxable income of the corporation.
  • Lastly, completing analysis on this final tested income to determine whether there is any subpart F, BEAT, or GILTI inclusions as well as determining if the companies tested income meets the de minimis or full inclusion threshold.
  • Specially selected for short-term role as a loan-staff international tax analyst for one of the largest privately held companies in the United States. In addition to regular international tax compliance, this role included various software related items and workbook breakouts for the business group I was assigned to.
  • Acting as a senior/project manager on several engagements which includes training new staff on the process, communicating with client and managers to ensure data is received with enough time to complete relevant analysis, relaying outstanding items/status, and ensuring a timely filing of the in-scope returns detailed within the engagement letter.
  • Furthering my knowledge and experience within tax softwares CCH Axcess and GoSystem Tax RS by preparing relevant international returns (prior returns were limited to federal only) and learning how to prepare returns within Corptax which is heavily utilized in the international space.

  • Start to finish preparation of a wide variety of high net worth individuals and large-scale tiered partnership returns which included trial balance mapping/adjustments, excel workpaper preparation (fixed asset analysis, capital and basis calculations, K-1/K-3 breakdowns), as well as software preparation of the returns and releasing for electronic filing.
  • Participated in year end and quarterly tax provision audits as the tax specialist. This involved preparation of provision workpapers in accordance with data provided by the client, auditing selected tax accounts that exceeded materiality threshold, and explaining the reason behind variances and what accounts these relate to based on how the income tax provision was prepared vs. audited financial statements.
  • Gained significant experience within the tax software CCH Axcess and GoSystems Tax RS and learned how returns are filed within these softwares, how to clear e-file errors in order to process returns successfully, and what necessary attachments are required by the IRS when filing returns.
