Operating state VMS highway signs and making sure messages about delays/crashes or other incidents were accurate
Dispatching New York State DOT personal to incidents such as debris spills/lane closures/traffic signal light malfunctions/dead animal pick up and other tasks
I also worked as an inspector for the H.E.L.P. program where I patrolled with the H.E.L.P. trucks making sure drivers were following the rules of their standard operating procedure and contract. I also would do inspection of the contracted tow companies who worked on Long Island parkways where I would record impounds from the parkways, review invoices to make sure towers were charging proper rates for services, review proper documents required by contract and make sure they were in compliance.
I worked there for 17 years before moving on to AutoBase. I started with Parsons Binkeroff then also worked for Wiley Engineering and finished with Marine Tiger Technologies as areas of my job changed hands with contract renewals.
