Professional software engineer/developer and Scrum Master with comprehensive experience in Agile methodologies, Kanban, and team facilitation (through Scrum). Skilled in guiding teams through agile practices, fostering collaboration, and driving successful project outcomes. Adept at adapting to changing requirements, resolving conflicts, and ensuring continuous improvement. Recognized for strong leadership, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities. He will complement and enhance any existing development team while leveraging nearly 10 years of work experience in STEM-related fields, of which seven and a half years have been in software (mainly), systems, and general IT.
1. Matt took ownership of a prototype effort as a co-product owner and acted as his own Scrum Master. He wrote stories, managed the backlog, updated the senior stakeholders, and ran weekly Scrums. Using Shell, Python, C# with .Net, Red Hat Linux Enterprise (RHEL), secure proxy and dev servers, and Jenkins, he was able to integrate a legacy, 27 year-old ATC (air-traffic control) system with an external, federal government cloud-based REST API service; a first for the project, opening the door for future cloud integration and/or service or subsystem(s) migration.
1. Matt took on a front-end lead role to help project architects and management with client discussions, hiring, and onboarding, updating documentation in Confluence, delegating work, updating unit tests, sprint planning with Jira, scheduling deployment with Jenkins, running code reviews, and taking point on new features and bug fixes. This resulted in a reduced workload on understaffed managers and Scrum Masters, on-time code delivery, and completing client demos thus keeping product development on schedule.
1. Matt was initially assigned a sole developer for a project that involved reanimating a shelved solution then figuring out an SNC-developed, proprietary framework and creating missing documentation for the system configuration and startup processes before updating the solution for delivery. This resulted in a profitable outcome thus avoiding a loss for the company.
2. Completed around 115 hours of fieldwork over 10 days at a client site resolving system/software bugs and integrating new solutions onto an existing, segregated, and classified system that resulted in minimal end-user downtime and positive USDOD customer feedback.
1. Matt participated in external coding challenges and internal bids and proposals that included architectural design and full-stack cloud solution POCs for prospective federal clients, which included fast-paced Scrum and Agile development. This resulted in, regardless of the outcome, positive customer feedback and new RFPs.
2. He took on a role as a Co-Tech Lead for a mission-critical project (full stack) supporting Law Enforcement, EMS, and Fire. Reduced client and end-user costs and resolved IT issues, both on-prem and in the cloud-resolving application performance issues in the client.
3. Matt assisted with project tasks, documentation, proposals, and responding to system issues outside normal work hours. This resulted in the completion of missing documentation and filling in management gaps.
1. Reduced engineer workload and trip cost while in the field by taking measurements and marking schematics, suggesting changes to schedule, and reaching out to technical individuals via Q&A. This was done independently or under the direction of the assigned engineer.
1. Matt helped reduce cost and customer stress by providing solutions for their computing, software, gaming, productivity, and home networking needs.
2. Assisted Geek Squad with computer and electronic troubleshooting and requests for IT sales and support.
3. Assisted management with reduction of loss due to theft and product waste; mainly with PC-related products and smart electronics.
