Many companies faced a labor shortage after Covid-19, and I was eager to find a job during summer break to gain some work experience and get paid. I was employed by The Clubhouse under the management of the local tennis club (EHIT) in the summer of 2021. Due to the staff shortage, I had to take on multiple positions while working closely with the department manager. My job responsibilities included working behind the various front desks, which gave me experience handling money. Some positions I filled were mini golf, bowling, the pool tables, and the game room. I also had to make reservations, process payments, and serve food to customers, etc. I learned how to skillfully communicate with people (staff and customers) and how a real company is run through a business medium.
Red Bikes Manager
Phillips Exeter Academy
Exeter, NH
09.2021 - 06.2023
At my boarding high school, Phillips Exeter Academy, I was the manager of the public bike system, Red Bikes. It was a campus system similar to Citi Bikes in NYC, and I had more than 50 bikes to manage. Each bike had to be maintained and kept track of through a student-made app. This management position gave me much experience with inventory management by teaching me how to keep track of many different items. This job also taught me how to best incentivise customers to do things that I wanted such as returning the bikes and not taking them too far off campus.
