I prepare and teach lessons for around 200 high school students enrolled in the medical academy at Chatsworth Charter High School. I teach a total of six classes in First Responder, Health Information Technician and Sports Therapeutic courses. I have developed the curriculum which includes first aid, patient assessment, disease spread, bleeding control, responding to disasters, emergencies, weapons of mass destructions, injury prevention and how to treat injuries. I have also taught them skills such as tying a tourniquet, checking for a pulse, reading respirations, taking blood pressure, splinting and slinging a forearm fracture and splinting a lower leg fracture. The curriculum also includes duties and responsibilities as a first responder and medical, legal, and ethical issues. Students have learned how to report suspected child abuse and neglect. I am responsible for classroom management and evaluating and assigning grades for all 200 students.
