2010-2014

  • Maintained several animal colony's (mouse). This included: tagging, breeding/weening, housing, feeding and sacrificing animals.
  • Genotyped established transgenic animal models. Also designed genotyping protocols for evaluation of in-house (PTG) transgenic mouse model.
  • Learned and become proficient in multiple microbiology research techniques: Western blotting, qPCR, luciferase assays, ELISA, sample extractions and preparations (nucleic, protein, lipid and metabolites).
  • Mentored a variety of colleagues and students (undergraduate, graduate , and MD research fellows) in microbiology research techniques.

Key Achievements:

Publications Contributed to (non-author):

  • Bailey KA, Et Al. (2015) Evidence of non-pancreatic beta cell-dependent roles of Tcf7l2 in regulation of glucose metabolism in mice. Hum Mol Genet 24(6) 1646-54 PMID:25398947

2015-Present:

  • Became the principle technician for the Cell Biology Core at the University of Chicago; responsibilities include: Assisting collaborators/clients with experimental design, processing of biological samples, running a wide array of biological assays on users samples, data analysis, and instruction on proper use of Core equipment.
  • Trained on metabolic cage use and DEXA scanning of mice.
  • Became proficient with Next Gen Sequencing techniques and bioinformatics analysis of gene expression in RNA-seq experiments.
  • Trained on use of Immulite 2000 Immuno Assay System.
  • Was a teaching assistant for the Endocrinology Specialization (I,II,II) courses at the University of Chicago for several years. Consistently received high ratings by students on post quarter performance reviews.
