In my current role with Shelby County Government, I conduct environmental inspections focused on identifying hazards, collecting environmental samples, interpreting laboratory results, and ensuring corrective actions align with federal and state standards.
My work requires detailed field investigation, regulatory interpretation, and the preparation of clear, defensible documentation. I routinely evaluate compliance with established program requirements, communicate findings with property owners and contractors, and oversee corrective actions to ensure regulatory standards are met. This includes reviewing work scopes, monitoring adherence to approved plans, and documenting findings in a manner suitable for enforcement or program review.
I operate and maintain specialized field equipment, including X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers, and understand the importance of calibration, quality assurance, chain-of-custody procedures, and data integrity. Through this experience, I have developed and am continually refining strong analytical judgment, careful attention to detail, and the ability to communicate technical findings in a clear and practical manner.
I am currently pursuing graduate studies in Urban Planning, which complements my hands-on experience and reflects my long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible resource management.
The Master of Arts in City and Regional Planning at The University of Memphis prepares students to guide the physical development of communities while integrating social equity, economic viability, and environmental responsibility to support long-term sustainability.

Certified Lead Pb Based Paint Inspector
I am part of a team that successfully completed a four-year federally funded Lead Hazard Reduction Grant last year. As we closed out that grant, our performance and program outcomes contributed to the award of an additional four-year Lead Hazard Reduction Grant, allowing the program’s work to continue serving our community.
Through this program, we mitigate environmental hazards such as lead-based paint in residential properties to reduce exposure risks, particularly for vulnerable populations. In addition to lead hazard control, we coordinate and oversee minor home repairs that improve overall safety and living conditions in areas not directly impacted by lead.
Beyond the regulatory and technical aspects of the work, the most meaningful accomplishment has been witnessing the tangible impact on families. I have seen homeowners’ outlook and confidence improve after their homes were made safer and healthier. Knowing that our work directly contributes to improved environmental conditions and quality of life has been both professionally and personally rewarding.
