As a new Leatherneck at WIU, I am majoring in RPTH (Recreation, Park, Tourism and Hospitality). I am eager to gain experience in my field of study and seeking out opportunities in Macomb.
As a student office worker, I performed a variety of tasks based on the priority need of the Academic Office.
These tasks included; answering phones calls, recording detailed messages, delivering mail and student passes, making copies, escorting students and visitors around the facility, maintaining a high-level of confidentiality pertaining to sensitive information and records.
I was selected as a student representative for Lanphier High School, as part of an initiative to voice student concerns and celebrate student success for the district. During these monthly meetings students met with the superintendent to help build communication and cohesion between the three high schools. These discussions provided instrumental information for the Board of Education's improvement planning.
As a leadership intern I was responsible for leading a group of K-6 students through S.T.E.A.M classes during the summer Camp Invention program. I helped successfully implement student classroom management and aided teachers in class activities.
I assisted in hosting two blood drives at Lanphier High School. In this position, I recruited student donors and helped schedule donor times. During the drive, I facilitated donor traffic and helped to aid in donor recovery. As well as donating blood myself.
I served as a volunteer at the Springfield Art Association where I helped with two Murder Mystery fundraisers- "Showdown at the Saloon", and "An Un-Eco Friendly Death". In this role, I helped to set up the event, acted as a tour guide, served food during the dining service, and aided with cleanup.
Volunteered at the annual Ansar Shrine Circus at the Bank Of Springfield Center. In this role, I sold tickets, kept track of money, helped with setup and cleanup and helped with customer service issues.
