As a Piano Instructor, I strive to make the time I have with my students the most positive musical experience possible. Every single lesson. As I have worked in music my whole life—a private piano instructor, volunteer or professional with youth and beginner choirs—I recognize that teaching music is a delicate art best done by an experienced individual who must truly love what they are doing. That is who I am.
Beyond the love of what I do, in lesson plan development, in pianistic and musical abilities, I am experienced and proficient, and in my years of teaching, I have, through this skillset, successfully established a strong musical foundation for students of all ages. I value all my students as talented unique individuals who are motivated by experience and a working mindset, and in integrating music theory and performance opportunities into my study with them, I have fostered these positive musical traits to such an extent to where I myself feel empowered by them. Above all, musical instruction aside, my students are guaranteed to leave their lesson feeling more encouraged and in love with music than before; lessons are never left on a bad note: a student discouraged is a student untaught. Above all, a friendly and well-organized experience, in which the assessing of a students' progress, the making of necessary adjustments, and of planning for the future, is prioritized.
I love sports, especially basketball, though I enjoy the process of learning a new game. I can never say no to a good book and conducting my church choir is always a joy. At school I like learning about art and history, philosophy and religion. Museums are a must any time I travel to a new city, but I would have to say The Metropolitan Museum of Art is my favorite, with its expansive collection of Oriental, Greek and Roman artifacts, as well as paintings that I could look at for hours! I love the SC Philharmonic and I enjoy going to see them and the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra as often as I can. I love nature and national parks.
