I am an incoming freshman at Stony Brook University. I am pursuing a BS in Biology with a specialization in Neuroscience on a Pre-Med track. I am interested in cardio thoracic surgery as a career and hope to make a positive impact in the medical field and the world through serving others.
I currently do research in clinical and anatomical oncology with Dr. Megha G. Joshi (MD) (in the pathology lab) in the Harvard Beth Israel Lahey health system. I work mostly with breast, prostate, and cervical cancer although I do see all types of cancer. I have scribed many medical diagnoses for patients and analyzed patient's serum and gel electrophoresis (distinguishing normal from myeloma and monoclonal gammopathies), pap smear test results, and breast excisions reports. I helped Dr.Megha G. Joshi (MD) analyze thyroid FNAs and compile data on over 350 thyroid samples. The next gen sequencing data on these samples resulted in a presentation at an international meeting and included Dicer-1 cases.
I volunteer at the annual Gala fundraiser that raises money to send to underprivileged HIV Orphan Kids in Hyderabad, India. My family and I also sponsor 2 kids' education, and I write letters to track their educational journeys.
I teach the foundational and technical aspects of Bharathanatyam (South Indian Classical Dance form) to kids ages 5+.
I volunteer at the annual classical dance festival my dance school holds each year. I manage ushering and seating people for the event. I also oversee ticket sale booths and food booths.
I volunteer at local soup kitchens, Cradles to Crayons, Room to Grow, Sancta Maria Nursing Home, and other organizations through LASA. I also organize gift baskets for holidays, deliver groceries to cancer patients, and prepare backpacks with school supplies for underprivileged kids. I volunteer semiannually for the free medical healthcare camp that LASA hosts serving the underprivileged community of Lowell.
I was a part-time waitress, where I managed customer orders and did home deliveries over the whole school year. I managed my teams work schedule and created monthly work calenders for my boss.
I conducted a self-paced research project on the topic of how we can use CRISPR Cas-9 to advance cancer treatments through gene editing and possibly cure cancer. I consulted with and attended lectures by professional doctors who assisted in my findings. I also have continued this project in my school research course to further my passion and learning.
During the summer months, I interned with Dr. Krishna S. Gunturu (MD) and oversaw multiple patient's cancer diagnoses/treatments in all types of oncology. I observed patient interactions during their weekly visits for chemotherapy/radiation.
I founded and curated a fundraiser that I organized during the COVID-19 Pandemic to raise money for local businesses in the town of Lexington. I raised $1,500 through an arts and culture talent show for all ages that was held on zoom.
. I'm passionate about dancing, singing and helping others. I've also been involved in various social service projects. All these interests, along with Softball, have played a significant and meaningful part in my life thus far. This website is a showcase of my work and experiences, and I hope you enjoy it!
