Leading 7 member team in NSF-funded project “EAGER: Towards a multimodal smart textile medical monitoring system for Neonatal ICUs”.

• Developed flexible, multi-layered stretch and pressure sensors to measure respiration and range of motion.
• Created a 6-layer bioinstrumentation system to monitor respiration, EKG, HR, oxygen, temperature, motion (IMU), and integrated wireless protocols.
• Successfully led the preparation and submission of a full IRB application package.

Wearable Device Designer

• Developed an elbow-belt for tracking elbow range of motion; conducted a 20-participant study on healthy adults.
• Integrated a 3-channel respiration sensor into a chest belt to explore stress detection potential.

Project Co-Lead CareWear

• Co-led a feasibility study to evaluate stress using smart wearable technology.
• Conducted a study with 30 healthy adult participants using a smart watch and custom-designed chest belt.
• Developed the chest belt and data analysis protocol to support stress detection.

Project Co-Lead MINDER

• Co-led the Minder project, focusing on wearable opioid medication reminder systems.
• Collaborated with an 8-member multidisciplinary team to meet project milestones.
• Developed a wearable arm-band using knitted, silver-coated rubber fabric for enhanced functionality.

Mentorship

• Mentored 15 undergraduate students (5 per year) on capstone projects solving real-world challenges from concept to completion.
• Managed timelines, evaluated progress through weekly reports and presentations, and guided project direction.
• Announced as the best capstone team for two time- 2022, and 2023.

Teaching Experience (Fall 2022, 2023, 2024)

• Taught a core Smart Textile course covering smart materials, functional textiles, and soft electronics to 37 undergraduate students.

Lab Manager

• Laboratory Oversight: Supervise daily operations, including resource allocation, equipment maintenance, and inventory management, ensuring efficient and seamless research processes.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and maintaining a secure laboratory environment.

• Led a team of 5 members in executing the Rhode Island Innovation Voucher project
• Conducted a comprehensive characterization study of the braided strain sensor.
• Enhanced understanding of complex sensing phenomena through quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques.
