Summary

After teaching in the Rockwood School District for 16.5 year, I am looking for an opportunity to join and serve a school community close to home.

I joined the Rockwood School District in 2008 as a English Language Arts Teacher at Lafayette High School. The courses I have taught the most are 9th Grade Accelerated Language Arts, Introduction to College Writing, and Sporting Literature and Writing. I have also taught Advanced Language Arts Research and Presentation, 10th Grade Accelerated Language Arts, 9th Grade Reading Enrichment, and 11th Grade Language Arts.

When I started teaching, I was hard-working, organized, detail-oriented, purposeful, and passionate about supporting students on their journey to grow as readers, writers, and thinkers. I had a strong foundation of teaching strategies to help students reach their potential. Over the course of my career, I learned so much from self-reflection as well as from my talented colleagues and supportive administration. I furthered my skills in building relationships, reaching all levels of learners, and adapting curriculum and instruction to an ever-changing world.

The past 2 years, I gained the parent perspective of education, and I have empathy and knowledge that helps me better utilize my partnership with parents and other professionals to best support students.

My career has been meaningful and fulfilling so far. I have built on my initial skills and passions, and I look forward to gaining experience in my new ones. I hope to continue supporting students in reaching their academic and personal potential.
