Work History

Utilization Management

Cigna
10.2018 - Current
  • I started as a Utilization Reviewer Analyst performing 1st level reviews for CT and MRI requests. I specialized in Head-Neuro. I then transferred to the Appeals Department, performing second level reviews on denied requests. The second level review included Appeals and Reconsiderations. I have also worked as a Care Coordinator with this company. My role was to find Home Health and DME providers for our members once they were discharged from a hospital or Skilled Nursing Facility. I really enjoyed this position, because I got to build a rapport with the members and help find individualized care.
  • My current role with Cigna, is Inpatient Utilization Management. I have been in this role since August 2022. My role as an Inpatient UM Nurse is to utilize MCG guidelines in making an initial determination for our Medicare members. I use the MCG guidelines to determine if the member meets criteria for an Inpatient or Observation stay by reviewing their medical records. I also, collaborate with Medical Directors and Case Management in the care for our members. This company has given me the opportunity to grow and learn many roles.

Registered Nurse

DaVita
03.2018 - 10.2018
  • Taking a role as a dialysis nurse, really shows commitment to the patients. To be a dialysis nurse, you have to be on your toes at all times. You have got to frequently be monitoring the patient's vitals, graft sites, and mentation. You have got to be ready to act quick, because the patient could become critical very abruptly. As a dialysis nurse, you must also have great skills in building rapport with the patients. For example, they each have a different way they like to be stuck with the catheters, how they like their catheters to be removed, certain snacks/drinks, how they like to sit in the chair, etc. You build this, to make the treatment as enjoyable as possible, because they don't necessarily want to be doing these 4 hour treatments 3 times a week. I believe I encompassed both of these skills as a dialysis nurse. My colleagues were able to count on me for help and every patient I have helped, trusted me to provide the care that is needed.

Registered Nurse

Skyline Medical Center
02.2017 - 03.2018
  • I worked in the Neuro ICU. My job varied from passing medications, titrating drips, checking EVDs hourly, etc. I gained a lot of knowledge as a new graduate nurse from this position. I also gained the skill of what it takes to be a team player, helping your co-workers when needed, and how to multi-task, while prioritizing emergent to non-emergent needs.
