I'm currently in college studying in early childhood education at STCC. I had to complete 150 observed hours in the field of education. I had to leave my job as a cashier at Bj's so that I can volunteer at a center the school got me in for the hours. I started off volunteering at Children's Creative Center which is a daycare located in Springfield. I was hired by the director just two weeks into my schedule. I started working more hours and taking more responsibilities. I quickly learned methods to engage with children by observing the other caregivers at the center. I've gotten a lot more comfortable with the children and I have learned so much in my time working there. I now have various roles at the center everyday and I love my job. I've created a relationship with all of the children and the staff and I'm always happy to be at work. I teach children cleanliness like washing hands, clean after themselves, cover a cough or a sneeze and wiping their boogers. I do a lot of cleaning like cleaning the tables, chairs, floors, toys and the playground. I create lesson plans and give the staff ideas for the week like activities I have in mind. I also take a lead role when there's a shortage of teachers. I'm capable of controlling a classroom on my own if needed and set up a schedule for the day. I help get the children ready for naptime by setting up the mats, blankets and help the children fall asleep. I help serve breakfast and lunch and get them ready to eat. In the morning's I sometimes assist in receiving children in the classroom and I greet the parent's when I get the opportunity. When the children go for walks or on the playground I watch over them and play with them. I like communicating with the children and I'm constantly talking with every child. I try to teach children new thing's everyday like please and thank you. I also teach them the alphabet, numbers and I sing songs with them. I love teaching and that's what I'm planning on doing in the long run, to become a teacher at Elementary level. I'm all about diversity so I think that as a Hispanic male in this field will help encourage others to join in as well. I admire everyone working in this field and I love being part of this community. I love my job and I hope to keep expanding my experience with different age levels. I love children and I learn so much from them everyday which will help me become a better caregiver/teacher.

I am an eighteen year old college student. I am an outgoing student pursuing flexible part-time employment. I am attending gtcc right now. I will then transfer to a university. I am still undecided on that. I am studying nursing. My goal is to become a neonatual nurse practitioner. It has been my dream to become a nurse since I was five years old. I have chosen this specific field of work due to my passion for children and babies. I have had a lot of experience with children and babies over the past few years. I currently work at a daycare and I love it. I have also babysat multiple children in the past years. I have a very strong work ethic and I am flexible. I am great at entertaining, coming up with activities, communicating, and working well with others.

From the age of 6 months old, to 14 years of age, working with various ages of children created skills that reflect that of a mother like figure in jobs. While maintaining a professional and authoritative position in children's eyes, previous jobs have still created unbreakable bonds between me and these children. Not only have relationships with children been made, but with their parents and guardians as well. Open lines of communication, unbroken trust, and full support from parents and guardians are all skills that have been picked up over the years of working in childcare.
