During these shifts, I am caring for 5 to 6 patients at a time, with a variety of cardiac-related diagnoses. I demonstrate professional nursing skills by working in a timely and professional manner, while prioritizing the safety of my patients. I handle and manage all types of cardiac infusion drips, monitor post-pacemaker implants and cardiac rhythms, as well as treat heart failure. My experience as a cardiac nurse gave me a boost of confidence, as I feel more comfortable and familiar with the heart, and how it can affect the human body in so many ways. My time spent at South Shore Hospital has shown me patience, dedication, perseverance, and a desire to see and learn more in the medical field.
