Motivated second year teacher with solid multitasking, time management and communication skills combined with unwavering devotion to student success. Familiar with different instructional approaches and technology options used in student-centered classrooms. Recently Graduated from FAU in December of 2023 with my Bachelors in Elementary Education, my philosophy is to teach the "Whole" student. Ensuring my students are provided with the foundational life skills needed to be kind, responsible citizens of a community as well as their academic development is my main priority. I am eager to learn and advance my teaching abilities.
As a 2nd grade teacher I worked with my 20 students throughout the year with varying needs from ESE to Severe behavior issues, to create routines and positive interactions within the room to help them develop academically. Coming into the position, I took over all ELA Lesson plans. Challenged with an overwhelming amount of behavior issues, especially for a 1st year teacher, I worked with the guidance counselor and MTSS team to tier these students for behavior and get them the support they need. I have experience working with Student Study Teams, creating weekly news letters, parent conferences and working collaboratively with a team.
While looking for a Teaching position I worked a part-time clerical job in order to have the flexibility to job hunt (go on interviews..etc). This position was at a contracting company. My main duty was to complete “breakdowns”: Calculating and documenting the amount spent to other companies for materials or to subcontractors. Figuring out the amount spent on each job and the profits gained, as well as the amount of commission each sales person was due.
As the lead/only teacher in the 2 year old classroom I managed eleven 2 year olds. Cultivating lesson plans based off weekly themes, I engaged children in activities to develop their fine and gross motor skills as well as educational activities in order to reach the milestones associated with their age group. As the sole teacher that the children spent 9 hours a day with, I was responsible for modeling positive interactions, building their self esteem and assisting them in understanding how to interact with the world, as well as caring for their individual personal needs. Two students in my class had severe behavioral issues so curbing their behavior with positive reinforcement and individualizing activities for these students was included in my day to day duties.
