As a 2nd grade teacher I worked with my 20 students throughout the year with varying needs from ESE to Severe behavior issues, to create routines and positive interactions within the room to help them develop academically. Coming into the position, I took over all ELA Lesson plans. Challenged with an overwhelming amount of behavior issues, especially for a 1st year teacher, I worked with the guidance counselor and MTSS team to tier these students for behavior and get them the support they need. I have experience working with Student Study Teams, creating weekly news letters, parent conferences and working collaboratively with a team.

  • Assisted in creating a safe and nurturing classroom environment that promoted emotional well-being and academic growth for all students.
  • Provided one-on-one support for students with learning disabilities, enabling them to excel in their coursework.
  • Provided individualized support for struggling learners, fostering a growth mindset and boosting confidence in their abilities.

As the sole teacher that the children spent 9 hours a day with, I was responsible for modeling positive interactions, building their self esteem and assisting them in understanding how to interact with the world, as well as caring for their individual personal needs. Two students in my class had severe behavioral issues so curbing their behavior with positive reinforcement and individualizing activities for these students was included in my day to day duties.
