Summary

I am a Certified Guide Dog Mobility Instructor working at Dogs Inc. (formerly Southeastern Guide Dogs), I am a Senior Guide Dog Mobility Instructor and Training Team Lead. I have enthusiastically trained guide dogs to faithfully lead blind and multi-disabled students, both teens and adults. During ‘class’ I teach the students to learn to work with their new dogs to insure the team can safely and effectively navigate their environment at work, school and home. I manage a team of other certified instructors and an apprentice to maintain the highest level of instruction for both students and dogs. I closely collaborate with other team leaders and managers to insure we are surpassing expectations by creating a safe, positive environment . I collaborate with other departments including veterinarians, marketing, philanthropy requests, admissions, volunteer services and chefs.

I have strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to quickly adapt to create individualized instruction based on the students needs and desire to increase their independence when they return home. I am skilled at adapting to students diverse learning styles. At times I travel to students homes to work one-on-one at their home, places of employment or school to further meet their individual needs.

I submit regular reports evaluating each dogs training documentation, individualized training plans for dogs, client training documentation, track dog milestones for completed training benchmarks, reports on students commitment, progress and readiness for graduation and client reports for handoff to alumni advisors
