Job Description

- I personally am trained in the adult (ER, ICU, general floor) and NICU populations. 

- Assess patients for any noted distress, especially respiratory distress (Neonatal & Adults) Draw and obtain arterial blood gases for pH levels,    blood oxygen levels, and carbon dioxide levels to determine a plan of care (Adults) 

- Draw and obtain capillary blood gases for pH levels and carbon dioxide levels to determine a plan of care for neonates 

- Maintain and manage conventional ventilators for critically ill patients (Adults) 

- Manage conventional ventilators and high frequency (Jet and Oscillator) ventilators for neonates 

- Perform Chest physiotherapy by a variety of methods, including: HFCWO, PEP devices, OPEP devices, IPV, MetaNeb, mechanical percussor, or postural drainage and percussion, for patients who are prescribed bronchial hygiene

- Administer respiratory medications (Inhalers or nebulized medications) for patients who are in acute respiratory distress or who need to follow home regimens (Adults & Neonates) 

- Perform tracheostomy care (Adults) 

- Assist Attendings and resident MDs during intubation procedures (Adults & Neonates) 

- Assist attendings with bronchoscopy procedures (Adults) 

- Set-up and help patients adjust to hi-flow nasal cannula, comfort flow nasal cannula, and non-invasive ventilators. (Adults & Neonates) 

- Assist RNs in transporting intubated and ventilated patients to radiological imaging and testing (Adults) 

- Respond to Code Blue situations (Adults & Neonates) 

- Respond to adult rapid response calls and infant emergency calls 

- Assess patients through Spontaneous Breathing Trials for extubation readiness (Adults) 

- Assist in immediate post-delivery neonatal resuscitation for infants and neonates born prematurely, born with anomalies, or who experience complications during delivery 

- Assist with trauma patients arriving to the ER (Adults) 

- Purge, Set up, and manage delivery of INO via ventilator circuits and heated high flow nasal cannula system (Adults and neonates)
