As the Team Leader for the Processing Coordinators at the Nogales Border Patrol Station, my duties consist of managing the day shift SOSI employees, training the new SOSI employees, keeping a professional and organized team, and providing guidance for my team while monitoring operations. My responsibilities are to motivate my team on a daily basis, as well as inspiring positive communication within our department.

My duties as a processing coordinator consist of receiving and gathering data for the initial intake of detainees. I play an integral role in processing detainees who have been apprehended for crossing into the U.S.A. illegally, by performing records checks, and interviews in multiple languages; This helps the station decide how detainees will be processed.

Maintaining well-being of detainees outside of a secure complex, inventorying, tagging, and store detainee's personal property for tracking purposes. Communicate in Spanish language. Log the status of welfare checks of occupants. Visual inspections of temporary holding areas and input information into the appropriate processing system. Draft and maintain administrative paperwork and reports related to property, transportation, and deportation documentation. Enter data in customer portal, linking family units and family groups (FMU/FMG) in e3. Store Property and conduct inventories. Create roll calls, and perform duties related to care of those in custody. Update modules with cell assignments and custodial actions (food, medical, phone calls, and other amenities).

Inspecting immigration documents and detainees’ possessions is part of my daily duties. I work together with Border Patrol Agents and Border Patrol Processing Coordinators in maintaining a safe work environment in a facility that holds over 1,200 detainees at a time. During operations, I handle risk management situations, like directing large groups of detainees at the same time. All while managing the day shift of SOSI employees on a daily basis, as well as keeping a positive communication within our department with border patrol supervisors and agents.
