Capstone Project: Examining Bias in Facial Recognition Programs, My sponsor, Dr. Giancarlo Schrementi, and I created two facial recognition programs. One of which trained an algorithm on a dataset proportionally representative of men and women and people of color, while the other trained on a dataset skewed towards white men. The proportional dataset proved to have a higher rate of successful identification at 97% accuracy, while our skewed data held an accuracy of 90% on the shared evaluation set.
