Work History

Director of Sales & Marketing, Project Development

Meyer Hatchery
06.2016 - Current

Meyer Hatchery is the second largest chicken hatchery in the United States offering live poultry, exotics, game birds, supplies and gifts.

  • Hired as the Online Coordinator and Remote Team Lead and was Meyer Hatchery's first remote employee.
  • After a complete website audit and SEO overhaul, established a distributed remote customer service responsible for live chats and email, which evolved into a full e-commerce team, adding in social media and newsletter marketing This included establishing SaaS programs that bridged the onsite employees with the remote team such as Slack, ZenDesk, Zoom, Asana, and more
  • Currently manage between 20-30 distributed team members depending on the season spanning 10 states and 3 time zones
  • Duties and roles as Website Manager include: search engine optimization, social media marketing, newsletter content generation, creation and maintenance of external and internal help desk (ZenDesk), creation and maintenance of the blog, product launching, optimizing images, product descriptions, technical support for website bugs and improvements for the front end and back end, working directly with the Web Developer and SysAdmin, analyzing and optimizing conversion rates and revenue, protecting Meyer Hatchery intellectual property and their online presence
  • The website has seen nothing but positive revenue and conversion rate growth since hire
  • In March 2020, transitioned Meyer's entire onsite call center and office staff remotely when the shutdowns began due to COVID. At the end of 2020, took over the management of the former call center team, and blended the website team with the call center to create an OMNI remote e-commerce team, which officially added the title of Customer Service Manager and Marketing Manager
  • COVID brought an influx of website traffic, customers, demand, and products shipped. As the website, marketing, and customer service manager, I navigated this team through more than a year and a half of unprecedented sales, website demands, customer service issues, production and supply issues.
  • In addition to duties as Website, Marketing, and Customer Service Managers, worked directly with the General Manager, Senior Executive, and the company owner on many projects, including the annual catalog and Customer Appreciation Day, a huge annual event that now includes a vendor show. Also, project managed the new front-end website, including front and back-end development and integration, an Android App, as well as launched a successful podcast and brand ambassador program.
  • Made numerous company policy changes over the years that put Meyer at the forefront of our industry. Made adjustments to team job roles over time to better fit our changing company as well as strengths among team members.
  • In July of 2021, my title changed to Communications and Project Development Manager, e-Commerce Manager, and Customer Service Manager to fully embrace all of the management hats and the duties I have fulfilled over the last 5 years. About a year later, that title was changed to Director of Sales and Marketing; Communications, and Project Development with no duty changes.
