While completing my BSN at Provo College, I had the opportunity to select what area of nursing I’d like to experience during my senior capstones. I chose mental health as it has always been of interest to me. I did my 12 week capstone at Aspen Grove Behavioral Hospital under the supervision of my preceptor, Terri Kurz.

While at Aspen Grove, I worked nights. During my shifts, I helped do patient assessments, verify and dispense patient medications, draw blood for lab work, take patient’s vital statistics and update patient information. I also helped calm patients and deescalate tense situations. I enjoyed the staff and patients during my time there.
