Volunteer Work

  • Volunteered for Child Life Services at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. This program allowed me to participate in a wide range of activities and events that were provided for the children admitted to the hospital. This included art therapy, music therapy, play time and social events. While the time spent with patients served as a form of distraction, volunteers were also a support system trained to communicate with the children and their family. This opportunity emphasized the importance of empathetic patient care and provided coping mechanisms to patients with critical health issues.
  • As part of the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life was a community based fundraiser that set up events in order to raise cancer awareness. As a team member, I worked together with many people to raise funds and build support in order to continue the fight against cancer. Numerous events were set up where thousands of people were able to participate in interactive games and activities.
