I started working at the age of fifteen. As a young girl I knew I had to work hard for everything I wanted or needed. I did not want to ask my parents for money because they were struggling as I grew up. When I got my first job, I learned many things. I learned how to deal and work with customer service and how to do closing duties and opening duties. Just like you would at any other job. I eventually had other job opportunities but did not want to leave my first job since it was closer to home. When I started high school as a freshman, I was the first one to balance out school while working two jobs. Working two jobs and doing homework was a struggle but I managed to pull through. I was very well adaptive to learning new things that did not evolve around subway. From there on out, I created a very strong work ethic. I found out that I am a very quick learner when it comes to new things. Looking back at the few jobs I have worked at, they helped me improve and learn many new things I did not know I had in me.
As a food service worker in a hospital, I worked in three different positions. One position I mainly worked in was known as the “snack bar” where I made breakfast and lunch for the employees of the hospital. I also prepped produce and cleaned the area. My second position was known as “tray line” and when placed there I was in charge of assisting the cook to put together a patients tray. I would prep desserts, fruits and produce as requested, and would deliver trays around the hospital if necessary. Lastly, my last position was working in the hospital cafeteria. I would ring up sales, serve the employees of the hospital and would clean when necessary.
