Summary

Past training and qualifications in the inventory control and purchasing arena with MCI / Worldcom and telecommunications companies in past will benefit day-to-day responsibilities as operations manager.

Focusing on clear policies and procedures to improve productivity are essential to a good business model.

I am intrinsically motivated and will seek out creative ways to solve problems. A strength is thinking 'out of the box' for problem solutions. Managers need to always be open to suggestions; one never knows what might work!

Work History

Operations Manager

Pete And Sam's Italian Restaurant
2019.08 - Current
  • Implemented regular management meetings to discuss all aspects of current and future projects as well as problematic issued.
  • Analyzed and reported on key performance metrics to senior management. Example: Labor percentages, food costs, etc..
  • Identified and resolved unauthorized, unsafe, or ineffective practices. Set policy and procedures for creating a safe and healthy environment for OSHA and Health Code. For safety of employees and liability potential for P&S.
  • Introduced new methods, practices, and systems to reduce turnaround time. It was always my goal to teach teamwork for work smarter, not harder solutions.
  • Review of product for accuracy and presentation.
  • Increased profit by streamlining operations. This area was addressed with creating recipes and portion controls. Much like inventory pars and utilization, promoting new products and upselling to customers.
  • Negotiated contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain best pricing and terms. Built great relationships, clear communications and repertoire with vendors, large and small.
  • Also negotiated with large companies when contracts needed to be amended or dissolved.
  • Tracked employee attendance and punctuality, addressing repeat problems quickly to prevent long-term habits. Note: this was a challenging area in the restaurant industry!
  • Reported issues to higher management with great detail. Meeting agendas created for point-by-point discussions and follow up details distributed to on site and upper management/owners. Communication is my strongest attribute.
  • Monitored daily cash discrepancies, inventory shrinkage and drive-off. For the restaurant industry this was waste, comp'd product and inaccurate inventories. Cycle counting was implemented for several products and weekly inventories completed for all items. In prep and finished product for loss visibility.
  • In charge of hiring personnel and completing all processes for onboarding employees both in house and via 3rd party payroll company.
  • Supervised creation of exciting merchandise products and displays to catch attention of store customers. This was the fun part!

Skills

My greatest strength is communication. This is ground zero for building a team/company to work seamlessly.

I am adept at learning new programs, processes and procedures and expanding on them to improve where possible.

Being open to sharing information and asking questions for understanding, are a big part in management skills.

The restaurant industry offers many similar logistical challenges any company does. From purchasing and delivery of raw product, like JIT, to support work in progress. Challenges to store and protect product as well as specified completion and delivery. Employee training and standards for consistency insures customer satisfaction, which is imperative to successful business.
