Neuro ICU nurse managing patient care in a level 1 trauma facility. Responding to acute critical care situations and managing patient care during rapid responses, stroke alerts, and codes. Using critical thinking to titrate medications for patients who are hemodynamically unstable who require life saving interventions. Experience with ventilators, EVD, monitoring intracranial pressures, vasopressors, sedatives, paralytics, insulin drips, mannitol, 3% saline, and other medication titrations. I have assisted with rapid responses, codes, and rapid intubations. Managed patient care by monitoring vitals, labs, and hourly patient assessments. Skills include IV insertion, rectal tubes management and insertion, GI tubes, managing a-line and central lines and removal, foley catheter insertion and care, suctioning and cleaning tracheostomy and endotracheal tubes, and monitoring external ventricular and lumbar drains. Providing appropriate aseptic techniques to prevent hospital acquired infections.
