I have experience working with children, youth, families and adult populations in a variety of settings, which have significantly contributed to my growth as an empathic professional. I would bring to this position strong clinical skills, fluency in Spanish, and a commitment to assisting individuals and families reach personal, educational, and social success. My current employment as a Women and Children social worker at Holy Name Medical Center and as a previous program manager within the Elmwood Park school district allowed me to gain supervisory skills as well as, advance my therapeutic skills as a clinician. In my position as a Women and Children social worker, I conduct 35 biopsychosocial and cultural assessments on a monthly basis. In this position, I work with pregnant/postpartum women and their families to maximize their perinatal mental health needs as well as, obtain access to community resources. In my work with newborns and the pediatric population, I help to ensure a safe discharge disposition based on their individualized needs. This is done with the collaboration of the interdisciplinary team which includes pediatricians, obstetricians, neonatologists, psychiatrists, nursing staff and hospital management. In this position I also assist in the training of new social workers and provide supervision for one intern. In my previous work as a school-based program manager, I maintained an active caseload of twenty-five students and assisted with the task supervision of one intern. I also provided leadership and support of the district contract, students, teachers, and other staff within the district. My previous employment with Family Preservation Services has allowed me to develop strong crisis intervention skills to better support at-risk families involved in the child welfare system. My past employment with the Clinical Out-patient Endeavors (COPE) allowed me to develop strong therapeutic skills to support individuals and families achieve a maximum degree of emotional stability. In an effort to promote the social, emotional, and physical wellbeing of children and youth, I previously facilitated a social skills psycho-education group up to three times a year. As a social work intern at Manchester Regional High School I assisted with the facilitation of social skill enhancement groups, mental health support workshops, and provided individual counseling for youth struggling with a wide variety of behavioral difficulties. As an undergraduate working with sub-acute/long-term nursing home patients, running a socialization therapy group for the residents of Woodcrest Health Center was one of my biggest challenges and among the most rewarding experience.
