Just to mention a few, here is a list of responsibilities while in the operating room:
Maintain sterility of the operating room
Communicating effectively with operating room personnel to maximize patient safety
Making sure instruments are all counted for and are put back in its proper cases
Preparing all the necessary tools and equipment needed for the procedures
Help with cleaning and applying dressings to the patient after the procedure
Help with transferring the patient before and after the procedure

Making sure we have an accurate count before the case, throughout the case and a final at the end of the case
Helps reduce the chances of a retained item in the patient

Checking medication labels and expiration dates
