Currently I am an contracted instructor. I developed lesson plans for neonatal resuscitation courses and am actively teach students with varying levels of experience and credentials. I am also an NRP instructor mentor and train others to teach the class. I currently teach community cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) as well as basic first aid, basic life support and advanced cardiac life support.
My initial role was charge nurse/manager. I was tasked with policy and staff development. During that time I was able to train staff on new evidence based practices and streamline their neonatal resuscitation processes. I assisted physicians in surgeries when needed and ran the outpatient testing. When the director of the unit resigned I served as interim director. s a interim director I collaborated with the chief nursing officer and the physician staff to maintain a safe and health environment for our patient population. I participated in budget, union and disciplinary meetings. In this role I was responsible for hiring new staff, monitoring staffing hours and adjusting for the budgeted hours. i supervised 6-10 nurses and ancillary staff at that time.
Prior to the pandemic I was an adjunct clinical professor for the University's maters in nursing program. I had 4-6 students seeking a masters degree on the unit caring for patients. Post pandemic I had the same student load but was taught via zoom. This challenge taught me how to adapt and teach a hands on course without having the ability to be hands on.
I was nominated for a Daisy Award for my excellence in team building and my leadership. I was in charge of 8-10 nurses in the labor setting. I was responsible for making assignments and assuring the unit ran smoothly. I was trained to the scub tech role as well as first assists in the OR during an emergency. I participated in over two dozen surgeries. When not in charge I was utilized as a triage nurse, baby nurse, or admission nurse. I trained new hires to the nurse role as well as to the relief charge role.

I functioned as an LDRP charge nurse, acute pediatrics nurse, emergency department float, and code team nurse. the hospitals that I worked at varied in size and patient acuity from low risk to obstetrical ICU. I was able to function proficiently and adapt to new environments easily. I was able to develop new skills by floating to the emergency department frequently in low acuity hospitals.
During my employment at Sierra View District hospital I began as a student nurse intern. Here I was trained in labor, delivery, post partum, (neonatal intensive care unit) NICU, emergency room and pediatric care. After graduating from nursing school I was trained to be charge nurse for labor, post partum and NICU. I helped to develop, design, and license the NICU during my time there.
