• LAC+USC, now LA General is the public hospital for LA County residents, connected with USC and UCLA medical schools, training interns and residents from many health care disciplines
• Working closely with them is part of working at a teaching hospital
• 13 wk contract + 13 wk
• Extension in med surg float pool sent me to 14 separate units
• 7 med surg units (renal, oncology, ortho, dialysis, ENT), ob/gyn surgical, telemetry, pediatrics (12 yrs +), jail unit, burn unit, psychiatric unit and an observation unit, a short stay ER holdover
• I am comfortable rotating between any of these units from day to day
• I am compliant with all contract employee requirements for LA County, which included an extensive compliance process and ongoing education

• Telemetry has centralized monitoring with tech
• Sub acute has vented, trached gtube long term patients with RT on unit managing vents
• Psych unit has on-site security guards 24/7
• Float between these 4 units during my contract

• Patients are mainly stable and nursing care focuses on ADLs and transfers
• Rehab hospital is combination of neuro ortho stroke and brain injury floors in an acute care hospital but in an inpatient rehab hospital setting Extension of contract signed for 6 more weeks

• Work PRN at nursing agency.(Worked 36 hours in 2-3 weeks) Mainly doing IVIG infusions in patient homes, but also other infusions at infusion centers attached to Dr offices, or freestanding infusion centers
• Mobile clinical research for clinical drug or device studies
• Private duty nursing for private clients in homes
• Shifts in LTC or acute care hospitals

• Working as a RN Educator
• One department with antepartum patients, progesterone injections weekly to pregnant women, diabetic teaching for gestational diabetics, zofran & reglan pumps for hyperemesis, either through a PICC line, port, or peripheral IV or subcutaneous infusion.
• Second department worked with coumadin patients wanting independence checking their INR levels at home. Educated pt at home on how to use blood INR meters issued to patient. Many of these patients were also LVAD patients, with them in addition to the INR meter, I also distributed blood pressure cuff, scale and an ipad to enter their information that was sent remotely to their physician daily.

• Float to postpartum floor, pre-op and stepdown NICU occasionally as needed

Postpartum RN for 8 yrs, left for a year, returned as systemwide float postpartum float pool. Couplet care, fetal demise, maternal and fetal complications, well baby nursery, any delivery complication. Float to L&D to help recover and transfer new couplets.
