I have worked almost 20 years as a tech and have worked in various places... i started in L&D, it's how i got my foot in the door in 2003. I then transferred to the OR after 2 years. Biggest takeaway: Assisting experience.
I worked in the OR till 2009 and that's how i met Dr. Heinrich.
I improved on my skills and learned as many specialties as possible. I have experience with Plastics, General, Neuro, DaVinci, and some CV, and others but my home is Ortho. I feel well rounded in most specialties.
I later went to work for Dr. H at his surgery center and now i'm back at St. David's where i've been for 2 years refining my skills.
Scrub cases, Ortho, Spine, CV, Neuro, whatever is assigned all while maintaining the highest standards of sterility. I pride myself in that.
Specialized in Ortho procedures with Dr. Heinrich and Dodgin. Main procedures were Anterior hips and Total Knees. We wore many hats there. At one point i was also in charge of Receiving supplies and checking off the POs.
I was also in charge of SPD on non surgical days preparing (washing, wrapping, sterilizing, logging) the pans for the surgical days. I was certified in SPD, but that has lapsed since i haven't been working in that capacity.
i like to hike,
