I am Dr. Melvin Bustamante, a proud native of Guatemala and a passionate educator and leader committed to empowering students. My journey in education began as a secondary Spanish and Social Studies teacher, a role I cherished for many years before transitioning into leadership. Over the years, I have held a variety of leadership roles, including Assistant Principal, Principal, and club sponsor. Today, I am proud to serve as the Assistant Principal at Everett High School in the Everett School District in Washington State.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Science Education from Florida Atlantic University and went on to complete graduate degrees in Educational Leadership at Lynn University. Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to contribute to the field of education in meaningful ways, including presenting at the Florida Fund for Minority Teachers, sponsoring the Spanish Honor Society, and founding the Latinos in Action Chapter at Boca Raton High School in 2020.
Having immigrated to the United States at the age of 15, I deeply understand the challenges students and families face when navigating a new environment. This experience has shaped my passion for education, and I am committed to building positive relationships, leading with empathy, and fostering inclusive school communities. Looking ahead, I am excited to continue my career in the classroom as an educator, where I can make a direct and lasting impact on students' lives.
