CASA of the Wilderness Trail

  • Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer providing support and advocating for abused and neglected children in the Madison County and Clark County, Kentucky
  • The CASA commits to staying by the child’s side until the child has found a permanent, safe home
  • Currently assigned to two cases including seven children, ages between 2 - 18
  • Assigned to and worked with 17 children and their families since 2018
  • Have continued to maintain relationships with each of these children after their cases have closed and continue to support them regularly by providing them with resources as needed
  • Completed 30 hours of pre-service training before being sworn in and appointed by the court
  • At least 12 hours of continuing education classes are required each year; completed 108 hours of training in 2024 through the CASA program
  • Responsibilities include meeting face to face with each child monthly
  • Maintain notes on each meeting, complete required court reports, work with lawyers, meet with social services and other collaterals, keep driving log, mileage, and time spent on each case
  • Stay engaged with resources available for children, including school and doctors, and talk with parents to ensure the ability to advocate on behalf of the children as required
