Summary

After working within and near the school setting for 2 years, I have come to develop an ease for working in fast-pace environments with multiple things going on at once. I have also had to learn how to accommodate to people's needs to better serve and assist them in whatever they need. When I worked as an assistant site manager for an after school care program, I would have to communicate key information with parents/guardians, both in person and over the phone.

Along with the after school care program, I was also working as a substitute teacher helped me to become more flexible with my ever changing (sometimes unpredictable) job. I had to learn how to adapt to what was needed of me and accommodate to what the team and students needed me to do in a given moment.

My internship at a refugee outreach organization that worked with families primarily from East Africa and Afghanistan. I was able to learn a multitude about the variety of different cultures that are practiced within the walls of the organization. I even able to learn some words in the many languages spoken by my students.

Work History

Intern

For the Nations Refugee Outreach
Garland, TX
05.2026 - Current

As a summer teacher intern, I help kids of refugees and refugee children maintain and grow in their English skills (reading, talking, writing, and listening). Along with English practice, I prepare math lessons for the kids twice a week that are reviews for the previous grade levels. On the days when there is not a math lesson, the children get to pick from a variety of electives that they get to partake in all summer long. Once the teaching portion is done, the students have recess time and Bible lessons.

During recess time, my job is to oversee and play with the children. This is a great time to get to know and bond with my students. During Bible time, I lead small group discussions about the Bible lesson taught that day.
