- Supervise and train school counseling interns from Lehman College, Mercy College and College of St. Rose.
- Identify and amend policies and practices that negatively impact disadvantaged students and advocate for equitable services for all students.
- Establish liaisons with corporate and nonprofit organizations for identification of employment and internship opportunities, and to provide workshops and mentoring opportunities for students including coordination with other community youth employment assistance programs.
- Help to maximize the educational attainment of all students by providing students with mental health services in school or through community-based organization.
- Review and track student’s academic progress toward meeting New York State Graduation Requirements.
- Evaluate students’ abilities and interests through aptitude assessments, interviews, and individual planning.
- Visit students’ homes periodically to improve school attendance.
- Design and implement a college-readiness system, enabling seniors to gain college acceptance while providing workshops on financial aid programs, college essay and application assistance, and scholarship/grant opportunities.
- Utilize SESIS to write annual IEPs and maintained confidential student records.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to help students succeed.
- Provide Mandated Counseling to students with IEPs, individually and in groups.
- Use STARS to plan individual student educational programs and sequence of courses.
- Utilize ATS to keep track of students’ bio, RISA etc.
- Coordinate school activities and events such as college fairs, college visits, senior trips, prom, graduation ceremony, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, feed the community, etc.
- Create an inclusive environment that is respectful, welcoming, kind, and open to all.
