My path into Ophthalmology is unique but I feel it is what sets me aside and makes me so passionate about eyes. My daughter was born with a Congenital Cataract and developed Congenital Glaucoma. As her mother it was important for me to have a strong understanding of what her disease was and what her options were. I studied and researched, all before internet and google, scouring text books and writing questions for her doctors. When one day her surgeon said to me I think this is your new path in life, as you are so well versed now. So with his encouragement I started in my pursuit of being an Ophthalmic Tech. I learned and continue to learn very day. I love teaching the next generation of technicians how to refine their skills and learn new ones that they may be nervous to attempt. I enjoy teaching them that if we treat every patient like they were our family member that we have given them the gift of not only sight but of humanity as well.
My greatest accomplishment outside of my family is that I love to share my abilities and try to attend Medical Mission trips. I have traveled to Columbia, India and Haiti doing many sight saving surgeries.
