Infant Health Research, I completed a research project on Sudden Unexpected Infant Mortality (SUID)'s in African American mothers in Southeast Michigan. The project identified current gaps in the literature on underlying causes of disparities in SUID rates amongst different racial and ethnic groups when accounting for a similar socioeconomic status. The project culminated with a research symposium, where my research was presented to the Public Health Department at Wayne State, as well as a proposed action plan on how to minimize the rates of SUID in Detroit.
